Topic:  Holidays and Traditions

Subtopic: Birthday Party Celebration.

The aim of the lesson: to develop students’ critical and creative thinking by learning about holidays and celebrations in Ukraine and abroad.

Objectives:

To encourage students to: communicate about birthday celebrations in Ukraine and abroad; use English effectively for study purpose;

to practice role-plays about planning a birthday celebration; to classify birthday celebrations in Ukraine and abroad, to choose information to write an invitation; to use the structure I’d like to..; to select specific information while watching a video.

Outcomes of the lesson

At the end of the lesson students can: explain the difference in celebrating birthdays in Ukraine and abroad; describe their birthday party; write an invitation card; apply their knowledge in real situations.

Language Support Resources: SB, WB, CD, a tape-recorder, copy-books, pictures, flash cards (speech patterns), grammar basic tables.

Procedure

I.                  Organizing moment.

T:   Are you ready for the lesson?

Cl:   Yes, we are.

T: I’m glad to see you.

Cl: We are glad to see too.

T: Greet our guests, please.

Cl: You are welcome to our school

      We are sure it will be cool!

II.               Warming up.

T: How are you today?

P1: I’m exited. My mum bought me a new phone yesterday.

T: Lucky you are! What about you?

P2: I’m wonderful! Everything is OK.

T: And you?

P3: I’m astonished. I didn’t expect so many guests at our lesson.

T: Don’t worry. Everything will be fine. Solomia, you look great today?

P4: Thank you. I’m overjoyed. My youngest brother is one month old today.

T: Oh, my congratulations. What about you?

      P5: I’m glad. Winter isn’t over and I can play snowballs and sledge.

T:  How do you do?

P6: I’m optimistic. I hope to get 12 today.

Звучать фанфари.

Ведучий:

         -Good morning, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. Welcome to the world of wonderland. Our journey won’t be long. Students of our school will spent only ten days in the wonderland. But we hope you’ll enjoy it.

Аліса:

         -Everyone likes reading books, do you? Reading helps us get into magic world of adventures, mysteries and visit unknown lands and countries. Do you know me? I’m Alice. My story was written over a hundred years ago by Lewis Carroll. There are plenty of wonders still unknown. Today we are going to our Wonderland.

Аліса сідає на крісло, читає книжку і засинає.

Чути шум, звучить хвилююча музика.

В актову залу вбігають Білий Кролик і Шляпник.

 Обоє:

-What’s the time?  What’s the time? What’s the time? I’m late. I’m late. I’m late..

Alice: Wait for me! Please? Wait!

Аліса: Where am I?

Кролик: You are in Wonderland! This mysterious world is full of exciting events and riddles! Would you like to see them?

Аліса: Yes, of course! I’m looking forward to seeing it. (весело плескає в долоні)

Капелюшник:  Let’s start! Hackory , Dackory….

 Кролик: The first wonder takes place in EngLand. Come with me!

Учні 3 класу розказують вірші.

Aліса: What touching poems!

Капелюшник: It’s only the beginning of our adventurous tour. Now I want you to travel to different countries.

Учні 4 класу виконують пісню.

Aліса: This song is very unusual and lovely! What will be the next wonderful place?

Кролик: The next place… is Center of Hope school.

Презентація

Aліса: They are brilliant children!

Капелюшник: But there will be more!

Aліса: Certainly! Is it possible?

Кролик: Of course! Come with me to Center of Hope school!

Рекомендації МО вчителів іноземних мов щодо формування мотивації навчальної діяльності школярів за сучасних умов

1. Спирайтесь на бажання дитини. Важливе не те, чого бажаємо ми самі, а те, чого хоче учень. Він не винний у своїх бажаннях. Завдання педагога — змінити напрямок його прагнень, якщо вони не збігаються з педагогічними цілями.
2. Використовуйте ідентифікацію. Примушуйте своїх учнів чогось палко забажати. Головне — «щоб бажання виникли», а ви змогли б їх використати.
3. Враховуйте інтереси й нахили. Говоріть про те, що цікавить ваших учнів, точніше, з цього починайте, Намагайтесь обернути «побічні» інтереси дитини на свою користь. У важких випадках ідіть від яскравої форми до змісту, від емоцій до логіки.
